Fresh and hearty southern Italian cuisine at Forster's Main Beach.

The Sicilian Restaurant is a bar and café in Forster is overlooking the beachfront at Main Beach. Here you can enjoy an exquisite selection of fine southern Italian cuisine, serving up a gourmet breakfast, lunch and dinner menu with accompanying desserts and drinks.

Our menu is inspired by the incredible produce, traditional cuisine and family recipes of the southern Italian region.

Sicilian food is not your typical Italian fare as it is also influenced by Greek, French, Persian and Spanish cuisine. The island is known for its abundant produce, and its simple dishes highlight the natural flavours of each ingredient.

Here at The Sicilian we use only the freshest ingredients, heartiest flavours and all the heart of nonna’s cooking. We don’t take life too seriously, and we love our food, wine, gelato and produce.

When you dine at The Sicilian, you dine with family, and we love any reason to celebrate. Our restaurants are located in Taree and Forster, and as our grandfather used to say – When you are in, you’re family.

What did others have to say?

Throughly enjoyed our visit at The Sicilian today for breakfast. We were greeted with a lovely smile and were seated quickly. All the staff we encountered were extremely friendly. The food was brought out relatively quickly and was beautiful. I ordered the big breakfast + an iced coffee. The ice coffee was one of the best I’ve had in a while and the food was also pretty good. Prices are a little higher than a standard cafe but definitely worth it in my opinion. There is also beautiful views of the beach if seated outside. Highly recommended visiting.

When paying the bill a few weeks ago at The Sicilian Forster, the total amount was $160. I was about to pay by eftpos (as there was a credit charge which, on principle I disagree with) when I noticed that the amount showing on the card machine was for $161.60. I pointed out to the manager, who was attending the cash register, that I was paying eftpos. He said “so?” I said that there is no charge for using eftpos so, after some sighing, he reluctantly corrected the payment to be $160. Last week, we returned to The Sicilian (why I will never know) and told the same manager that I was paying cash. He said the bill was $146.45. I paid the bill with cash and then decided to check the actual bill (which I had to ask for as no bill was shown to me prior to paying). You guessed it! The actual bill was for $145. In this situation, the small amount of money is not the issue. It is the way that it is done. At least ask how the customer is intending to pay and then charge the correct, legal amount. Due to the manager’s reluctance to charge the correct amount on both occasions, I can only assume that this ploy is intentional. A dollar here, two dollars there etc would obviously add up over weeks/months. If this sort of dishonesty is not important to you, then read no further. The meals and service at The Sicilian? We have found a marked deterioration in both meal quality for the prices charged and the very poor level of service. It is a pity, as it was quite a reasonable restaurant in the past. Shall we be returning? No. There are many other restaurants in the Forster/Tuncurry area where you don’t pay $30-$40 for what are very basic pasta dishes. If you do decide that you want to offload $100-$200 for a couple of rather ordinary meals, then this is the place for you. Just don’t expect that you will leave this restaurant feeling you have had a good meal or that you have had value for money. If so, you will be very sorely disappointed.

I had a special date so I thought Italian food is always romantic.I booked in at The Sicilian at Forster. Even with vivid restrictions there were plenty of patrons strategically seated. I like to be part of a feeding frenzy.Well draught beer and great choice wine in bottles or glass for the conscientious driver. Great choice of breads all tasty.Excellent main meals.i tried something new like veal rib with Sicilian veggies. It came like a rib from a Brontosaurus with beautiful sauces. Well I was so content I gave the desert menu a miss. My date was also impressed she took home doggy bag. Friendly staff and great service I can recommend The Sicilian to everyone.
