Australia’s premier Shakespearean theatre company, Bell Shakespeare, is bringing new life to a well-loved classic of the bard: The Comedy of Errors.

For those unfamiliar with the plot, it’s one of mistaken identities and zany mishaps, when two sets of long lost twins separated 33 years earlier, miraculously find themselves in the same city on the same day.
What ensues is a hilarious romp of swapped identities, misguided love, mistaken imprisonment and chaotic mishaps, leading to an unbelievably crazy day for bumbling twins.
At the heart of this tale of comedic misfortune is an old man searching for his lost children. He finds himself in a hostile land, in the fight of his life... to save his life.
As far-fetched coincidences unfold, chaotic hilarity ensues and a man’s life could be saved — if only everything would go to plan.
It’s one of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies and remains as popular as it is due to the sheer mad merrymaking to be found in its story. Bell director Janine Watson gives full reign to the exuberant characters, and the contemporary costumes and set compliment the anarchic fun perfectly.
It’s a beautiful story of reunion, wrapped up in an evening of entertainment and laughter that you won’t want to miss.
