“JAHL HESHI represents all that is cutting edge in Australian contemporized jazz... they are the future of jazz today”–Barry O’Sullivan, 2MBS Fine Music Sydney.
JAHL HESHI is a new evocative contemporary jazz ensemble from Sydney. They embody a collaborative approach, and have a curiosity for exploration within their music. Their music represents all that is beautiful about jazz–it’s freedom, creativity, inclusivity and spontaneity. Self-described as curious improvisors grounded in jazz tradition, the group is co-led by Harry Sutherland on piano and Lachy Hamilton on tenor saxophone and features Jacques Emery ondouble bass and Alexander Inman-Hislop on drums.
Individually these musicians have been recognised by some of Australia’s most prestigious awards, such as the Freedman Jazz Fellowship and BBM Youth Support award. They’ve played with The Australian Art Orchestra, Matt Corby, Ben Hauptmann, Patti Austin, Zela Margossian among countless other leading artists.
Wilbur Whitta, a highly established Sydney pianist will step in for Harry Sutherland on the NSW tour dates.
Witnessing them live in concert is an experience you will cherish long after they leave town.
