Join us at The Moorings Lakehouse for an immersive agritourism experience celebrating the local seafood delicacies of the Barrington Coast.
Shuck & Shell’ is a fun filled foodie's journey from the paddock to the lake to the plate with summer cocktails and sunset tunes to carry you through a delicious sweet chilli crab long table lunch. We'll throw in a locally sourced Summer gin cocktail by Wharf Street Distillery and a few Wallis Lake oysters to cap off this epic summer foodie event.
Maestro, Ilan Kidron from the Potbelleez will keep the good vibes and summer tunes flowing through to sunset. All of this is set on the extraordinary lake front peninsula The Moorings Lakehouse.
You'll start by collecting ingredients from our organic gardens where The Wharf St Distillery Bar staff will serve you up a summer cocktail or mocktail. Then down to the lake front to break down freshly caught crabs with our very own King Neptune crab fisherman. Next you'll take your bounty up to our chefs to cook up a plate of sweet chilli blue swimmer crab and shuck a few Wallis Lake oysters. Find your spot amongst friends, new & old at the long table listening to some breezy tunes.Protecting the environment and advocating for sustainable seafood management is our main goal.
We'll be running a seafood workshop educating attendees about sustainable methods to catch crabs from Wallis Lake as prescribed by NSW fisheries. We focus on choosing the right gear to reduce bycatch and the legal size and bag limits. Wallis Lake produces 80% of the state’s commercial crabs and is one of the most significant producers of Sydney rock oysters in Australia.
