How to get to Stroud by car, train, coach or plane.

By car

1. Bucketts Way

Stroud is located along the Bucketts Way, a scenic detour off the Pacific Highway, on the way to Gloucester. Southern access is at Twelve Mile Creek, the trip is 31 km and takes about 25 minutes. Northern access to Stroud is from Gloucester, the trip is 49 km and takes about 40 minutes.

Stroud sits in its own river valley and is part of the Karuah River catchment. It is not part of the Hunter Valley nor the Upper Hunter, both of these are incorrect geo-locators. Access from the Hunter Valley is via Dungog (using Stroud Hill Road that joins the Bucketts Way just north of Stroud) or from Clarence Town (using Limeburners Creek Road not far from the Pacific Highway). The trip from Dungog is 27 km and takes about 25 minutes.

From the Myall River Valley, access is via Booral Road that joins the Bucketts Way at Booral. The trip from Bulahdelah to Stroud is 38 km and takes about 35 minutes.

The Bucketts Way is named after the Bucketts Mountains at Gloucester, also known by their aboriginal name: the Buccan Buccans.

2. Thunderbolts Way

Access to Stroud from the northern tablelands and Queensland is via Thunderbolts Way through Gloucester.

Thunderbolts Way is named after the local bushranger Captain Thunderbolt.

3. Scone Road

Access to Stroud from the Upper Hunter is via Scone Rd through Gloucester.
