For many of us, a getaway isn't the same without our fur kids coming along for the adventure. Here are some of our favourite pet-friendly campgrounds for you to enjoy with the whole family in the Barrington Coast.

1. Tiona Holiday Park

Holiday Park is nestled between the white sands of Seven Mile Beach, the cabbage tree palm-studded shores of Wallis Lake and close to the spectacular Booti Booti National Park. Only 15 minutes from Forster, you'll find your ideal lakeside or beachside campsite here. All of our sites are family friendly, pet friendly, and the perfect space from which to relax, explore, connect or play – plus you can have a campfire!

2. Lani's Holiday Island, Forster

is located on beautiful Wallis Lake in the heart of the seaside town of Forster, perfect for kayaking, fishing or swimming. And for the camper who wants that all-natural camping experience there's an additional 60 acres of natural bushland on Tony's Point. Enjoy nights around a campfire, soak up the wide open spaces, delight in the beauty of a sunset and enjoy that sensational feeling of being in the bush yet so conveniently close to town. Camping on Tony’s Point Island is an experience which you will want to savour time and time again.

3. Hallidays Point Caravan Park

A new caravan and camping resort at Hallidays Point who are happy to welcome all members of the family, including dogs and horses. Catering for caravans and camping and includes 7 horse stables and yards. Each site is extra-large to allow for up to two vehicles with a caravan and horse float to fit comfortably. Situated on 40 hectares directly across from Tallwoods Village and Tallwoods golf course, it is also located only 3 km from Black Head Beach. Fifteen minutes from Tuncurry and Forster plus 4km to horse-friendly Nine Mile Beach.

4. Weeroona Holiday Park, Mitchells Island

Weeroona is situated on Mitchells Island east of Taree at the mouth of the Manning River. The holiday park is set in 16 hectares of natural bushland and is bounded by the river on one side and miles of superb, unspoiled ocean beach on the other. Recreational activities include boating, fishing, swimming, surfing and cycling. The holiday park has its own jetty and our shady campground is a sand dune away from the beach. A popular feature is the children’s playground with a range of play equipment and a skate board park.

5. Manning River Campground, Barrington Tops State Forest

As a state forest campground, dogs are welcome. On the banks of the Manning River, this pretty camping and picnic area is popular with four-wheel-drive enthusiasts and freshwater fisherman. It's nestled in cool highland forests of Barrington Tops and is perfect for a peaceful mountain getaway. The Manning River camping and picnic areas were upgraded in 2017, with the new site now located next to Henry’s Bridge on Pheasants Creek Road.

6. Riverwood Downs Resort, Monkerai

Riverwood Downs truly understands the relationship that you have with your pets. On or off-lead you have 300 hectares to play, swim and explore with 5km of Karuah River frontage at Monkerai, near Stroud. There's an abundance of manicured lawns for play and walking trails to explore or just lie in the sun and relax by the beautiful mountain river. You can even go dining out with your dog as the Barrington Bar and Grill has garden view verandah tables for guests with pets. There's even the Hound's Breath Cafe menu with choices from puppaccinos to specialty dishes of treats.
