Award winning gin distillery on the Bucketts Way.

Rachael and I were so excited to visit The Farmer's Wife Distillery on our way home from a pop-up information stall near Karuah on the Barrington Coast. From the Bucketts Way we were greeted to a picturesque, beautifully maintained entrance in the natural bush setting. The trees slightly obscured the distillery’s facade but upon entering there’s no mistaking the building’s beautiful presence.

Kylie Sepos - yes, the actual farmer’s wife - had this vision since 2017 when she began making gin in a shed located behind the gorgeous new building that now holds the copper distillers. Kylie has since made this a destination that showcases her gin, the exquisite menu and the beautiful region she and her family live in.

As you enter the building it takes you to another place, I felt like I was on holidays. From the polished concrete floors, the beautiful blackbutt timber ceiling and beams, vintage furniture and sandstone fireplace, the stunning interiors are aesthetically pleasing and take you on a journey.

To get something tasty in our tummies, Rachael and I chose share plates of mushroom arancini and seasonal roasted vegetables and they were both delicious. Rachael accompanied her meal with a mocktail while I enjoyed the autumn gin and tonic… just for research purposes of course!

We followed that with beautiful desserts of flourless chocolate cake plus a pistachio and almond tart. There’s a well-positioned bar where you can purchase beer on tap together with a premium list of Hunter Valley wines.

The merchandise displays were too good to ignore with plenty of items and gifts to browse, ready-made for that special purchase. These products are beautifully presented and it took great restraint not to buy one of everything.

We were taken on a quick tour around the property and heard Kylie’s dream. The number of customers visiting this beautiful venue demonstrates its instant appeal to the target market. They have a focus on service excellence and creating a faultless experience.

Overall it was a high-end experience for a reasonable cost and I'll be back again with more friends and family. Just beautiful!

The Farmer’s Wife Distillery is located at Allworth, 10 minutes off the Pacific Highway and 50 minutes south of Gloucester.

They now have regular banquet dinners, live music and seasonal festivals which always sell-out. Plans are underway for a permaculture garden, orchard and botanical garden. Plans are afoot for accommodation and expanding into whisky!

Oh and don’t forget their Gin Club with cocktail kits and recipes designed to make it easy to create unique and delicious gin cocktails at home.
