Here’s just a selection of the top activities the kids will adore for sure.
Keeping the kids entertained on holiday is easy when you’re visiting the Barrington Coast. There’s plenty of outdoor adventures to be had, plus we’ve got a bunch of cool indoor options too. Think ten pin bowling, aquatic centres, berry picking, an interactive fun park, surfing – you get the idea!
This brand new water playground opened in time for summer. It's an all-age, all-ability water splash pad with a water slide, water tower and active water play equipment to get your kids smiling.
The playground is open every day all year round (excluding Christmas Day) and it's free to use, so come make a splash!
Fact: childhood holiday memories are made by places like this. Get set for the ultimate adventure at the Big Buzz Fun Park. Activities include waterslides, tobogganing, laser tag, quad bikes, speed karts and putt putt golf. An affordable venue with barbecues and picnic areas too.
Now here’s a fun idea for the little kids! Take them to the indoor play centre at Forster and let them run wild inside while you relax with a coffee and a toasted sandwich in hand. The youngsters will have a ball in the climbing maze, on the jumping castle and navigating tunnels. The slides, flying fox and soft play equipment will ensure they snooze hard that night.
Ten Pin Bowling is a great way to connect with family of all ages. It always garners plenty of laughs and pushes one’s competitive streak to the fore. But there can only be one winner. Best book two games to claim a solid triumph.
Cinemas aren't just for rainy days, they're also a great option if you've had a little too much sun and need a non-beach day. The Great Lakes Cinema 3 at Tuncurry and Fays Twin Cinema at Taree both offer airconditioned comfort and comfy seating and of course a great candy bar. Hot tip: Always include a boysenberry choc top and yummy popcorn with your movie choice.
There’s plenty of kid friendly facilities for the youth to discover at the Great Lakes Aquatic and Leisure Centre. For the little ones, we recommend the kinder gym, playground and toddler pool suit best. Whilst teens will rate a spa & sauna session and the dedicated teenage fitness classes.
Parents & tweens may we suggest you swim a few laps and then relax in the shaded area. Little kids go direct (supervised of course) to the wading pool, water features and fenced playground zone. Tip: take a picnic lunch or barbecue it up.
How does a Jurassic World themed round of putt putt golf sound? Fun, right! Same goes for a spot of laser skirmish, a quick blitz in the gaming arcade and/or a friendly match of ten pin bowling. It’s impossible for anyone to be bored here.
10. Learn to Surf
Saltwater Surf School at Old Bar or Great Lakes Surf School at Forster offer surfing lessons for kids of all ages. The qualified surf instructors will have your kids grinning from ear to ear as they learn to ride the waves in a safe environment. Hint: book in early during holiday season.
Be sure to visit this community recreation centre if your kids love a good swim session. The playground is a good spot for them to burn off energy once they’re done with the pool too. Plus there’s an onsite creche for parents looking to catch a break for themselves and hit the gym or go for a swim.
