Your perfect basecamp for a weekend or holiday - travel, trek, drive, cycle and return to the comforts of our cottage in the evening.

In the 1880s as the mighty goldrush in nearby Copeland ended, our old weatherboard farm cottage was hauled by bullock dray to her current location on the banks of the Barrington River.

Word on the street is that when the Old Schoolmaster retired to this historic cottage he brought the old corrugated iron school hall with him. You can see why he wanted to retire here - peace, privacy and the spectacular outlook: uninterrupted views up to the Buccan Buccans (Bucketts Mountains) and over working river flats.

  • 3 easy hours drive north of Sydney, under 1.5 hours from Newcastle and an easy 10 minute drive from Gloucester.
  • 3 bedrooms (2 queens and 2 singles - sleeps up to 6 guests). Linen provided.
  • 2 bathrooms (one full bathroom with bath, shower recess and toilet) and a separate toilet.
  • Reverse cycle air-conditioning throughout.
  • Slow combustion wood fire (firewood supplied during the winter months).
  • Fully equipped kitchen with Miele oven and dishwasher, large fridge, microwave, and cooktop.
  • Gas barbecue on a large covered outside verandah.

The cottage is the perfect basecamp to immerse yourself in the rural setting, visit Barrington Tops and Gloucester Tops, or simply take the time to cherish a restorative and reviving break from the busyness of life.
