Renowned for the best scones on the coast but scones are not the only wonderful things to experience here.
Moorland Cottage cafe has a wonderful garden setting with a beautiful indoor option too. This is a great place to stop for a break off the highway and is safe for the kids. Working farms are our neighbours, so the kids can marvel at the sheep, horses, alpacas and cows.
Our setting is also great for groups, parties, occasions and coaches and we are now offering High Teas via bookings.
We are renowned for the "Best Scones on the Coast" as our history is that of a bakehouse and later a Devonshire tea house, but we now have a modern, well priced menu, with real espresso coffee. Gluten free offerings are available. We offer all menu items as takeaway too.
Located only 15 minutes north of Taree and conveniently located just 300 metres off the Pacific Highway away from the hustle and bustle. Relax in the quiet shady gardens for a light lunch, espresso coffee, homemade pies, Devonshire teas and the famous homemade scones. Small gift items and homemade jams, pickles and relishes are available.

Having enjoyed the scones etc on many previous occasions, today's visit was utterly disappointing. Not only were we grossly overcharged but when this was pointed out the total cost was slapped on the counter and it was suggested we take our business elsewhere. All 6 of us! We were finally served and the scones were great. This dis not compensate for the 'gentleman's rudeness. He's probably too old to learn about good old fashioned 'customer service'. AVOID!!! .

We stopped off to pick up some scones on our way to visit family - the scones were very popular! They even packed a little takeaway container with cream and jam to take along with us. A great stop on the motorway; we’ll be back :)

Very nice pies and scones were delicious Can not complain about the food BUT the older man serving was extremely rude and short with us We then had to ask if someone would please take our order. We are locals and have been there many times the ladies there are always very pleasant and we have not encountered this older man before. With an attitude like he had today I hope we don’t encounter him again. They had shut the gates as I surmise they had enough customers with the covid limitations. People had left and shut the gates after themselves then other customers arrived to the shut gates We politely told the older man people were at the gates waiting. His response was well they can wait.Lovely attitude Lucky the nice young man that was serving the food went and let more customers in

We know they have great scones. Shame the service lets them down.. They suggest closing is 3pm however don't serve food after 2pm. Disappointing

Great place to stop and have something to eat. More expensive then I a thought but worth it. They have a nice garden to sit and eat.
