Good vibes and great sunsets overlooking stunning Wallis Lake since 1872.

The Lakes & Ocean Hotel is one of the local historic icons of Forster. Being over 145 years old, we certainly don’t look it, with our on-going renovations and improvements, the hotel has been completely transformed. With great eating/drinking areas which have been opened up with large windows and doors opening onto the veranda, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor seating. The café serves breakfast, cake, tea, coffee, craft beers and cocktails. Perfect for a quiet cuppa in the morning before heading out for the day or enjoying. Situated right in town it is only a short walk to the town shops, and Forster main beach.

The hotel offers eight deluxe queen size rooms with ensuite. Located directly across the road from the stunning Wallis Lake. Four rooms open out directly onto an open veranda with the other four having access to the 180-degree views of Wallis Lake and the famous Foster Tuncurry Bridge. There is also budget accommodation for those just wanting to put their head down in our old pub rooms.

The bistro is open 7 days for lunch and dinner and the cafe is open for breakfast. A function room is also available for any event with catering for any occasions. You can sit and relax on the open verandas at the hotel and overlook the stunning Wallis Lake while enjoying a coffee, drinks or a meal.

Visited in wheelchair during covid-19 restrictions. Staff opened locked door for access and were very accommodating. Very nice lunch and will certainly return.

The old lady managing Check - in Covid requirements has absolutely no customer service. Also, I would recommend to adopt another form of sign in for people without the mobile phone Besides that she was extremely rude and not helpful she made a couple of insulting comments. Working in the same industry this is absolutely shocking experience.

This place has friendly staff. Staff are happy in the work place. Rooms are cleaned daily by very competent staff. Thank you cleaning staff. Views over the lake are beautiful. Central to all restaurants and the beach. I recommend The Lakes and Ocean Hotel.

Went for dinner with visiting friends. Food was terrible! Hard to find anything appealing. Tried the 19 dollar steak sandwich. To me a sandwich indicates bread, not the huge Turkish bun I got. On this was a barely medium piece of what looked like scoth fillet., some limp iceberg lettuce, some tomato and and a few pieces of beetroot. Chips looked like the bottom of the barrel. My husband had a Ceasar salad which consisted of mostly lettuce. Paid 5 dollars for chicken, which was sparse, as was the bacon. No poached egg, just a bit of boiled egg. Pathetic! Get better at IGA! To add insult to injury, raffles on and called over loudspeaker which was so loud there was no way to talk at the table. Eat any where else in Forster! Much better food to be found.

Love sitting near the fire here in winter and out on the balcony with the lake view in summer. Good pub food at reasonable prices. Large Sports area. Play area out the back for children. Coffee shop with cakes and wraps open until 2. Good service. Sunday sessions in the afternoon. Disabled access.
