This rustic picnic spot is the perfect base for a fun-filled day trip at the beach, in the southern reaches of Myall Lakes National Park. Just north of Hawks Nest, Hole in the Wall picnic area provides easy access to the seemingly endless golden sands and rolling waves of Mungo Beach.

Take in the fresh coastal air and sweeping views including Broughton Island and Dark Point to the south. Head down to the beach and dive into the sparkling waves for a refreshing swim. The fishing here is legendary with bream, tailor and Australian salmon often caught along this coastline.

When it’s time for lunch, spread out a feast on the tables and enjoy a leisurely, sand-free lunch. If you enjoy a walk, there are large stretches of beaches to explore, or you can tackle nearby Mungo walking track. Remember to take your binoculars if you want to birdwatch or whale watch.

Fabulous little spot to stop for a picnic! At the top of the hill is a picnic table and chairs with a fabulous view back down Mungo Beach and the coastline! Road and car park is all easy accessible and well maintained. There are no bathroom facilities here. Recommended for a quick look.

I could have sat there for hours, but the next visitors deserved to experience the tranquil sounds of the crashing waves on their own.

Beautiful quiet beach. Good fishing, amazing sunrises and sunsets.

Love this place. Easy access. However the storm in 2016 has done damage to the sand dunes. The lookout section needs better access to the beach before the damage to the dunes is irreparable.

Good spot in Myall National Park. Not much other than a single picnic bench and a steep hill to go down to the beach below.
