Gloucester River Winery enjoys the most scenic setting of any winery in the Gloucester valley, you’ll love the intimate views of the stunning Buccan Buccans (the Bucketts Mountains).
Owner and winemaker John is passionate about his preservative-free wines, do try his chardonnay, his rose and more!
Gloucester River Winery boutique vineyard situated on 12 hectares by the Gloucester River grows and produces wines with no added preservatives. The on-site cellar creates small lot vintages of 200-500 litres.
The wine is handpicked and handcrafted in the cellar, not the laboratory, and varies from year to year. Each year’s tastes are driven by the climate, not what can be manufactured through blending. The wines are faithful to both their variety and the growing conditions.
Using 460 year old methods brought from Central Europe, the wines are characterful, often intense and completely authentic. No additives, no chemicals, no pesticides, or chemical sprays, no fertiliser other than that generated by the property’s cattle and turned into ‘cow pat tea’ before being sprinkled around the vines.
This is a vineyard that makes wine like it used to be made. Visit, taste, picnic by the river!

This was hands down one of the best winery visits we’ve ever done. It was so authentic and John was very generous with the tasting and his time and showing us around their wonderful farm. We fed the cows, played with the chickens and took home some home grown limes as well as a lot of wine. 100% recommend a visit.

We had a heart-welcoming visit to Johns Vineyard. He was an incredible host with beautiful organic wines. He shared lots of homegrown treats with us as well as letting us feed the cows. A delightful experience and can't wait to visit again!

If there was a 6th star, John deserves it. Incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to show us his beautiful property. We drank wine, fed the cows and had one of the best experiences ever on a winery. This is a MUST VISIT if you're in the area. We'll be back next time!

Great experience. John and his lovely partner are welcoming, genuine and generous. We were taken on a tour of the place by John and shown all the gems of the property. Wine is yummy and generously poured. Must stop!

This was our best wine tour experience ever! It will be tough to visit a regular winery after this. All wines are organic and very tasty. Usually we buy 1-2 bottles for our group, we left with 18 this time. John, the host, is one of the coolest people you'll meet in your lifetime. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the Barrington Tops area.
