After being closed for over a year, Cattai Wetlands will reopen to the public on Monday 30 November 2020. The much-loved wetland was closed after sustaining significant damage, both environmental and structural, during the bushfires of 2019. Click here for more information.

Just off the Pacific Highway at Spring Hill Road lives Cattai Wetlands, a beautiful coastal wetland and hidden gem of the Barrington Coast.

Cattai Wetlands provides a sanctuary for over 180 species of birds, kangaroos wallabies and regular spotted goannas. Make your way along one of the many walking tracks, go bird watching, take a picnic or just relax and enjoy the scenery.

Area is very well maintained. Biggest tip: bring your mosquito repellent! Really sad to see the water so low in this drought. Great wildlife though and careful consideration of picnic areas etc. Approx. 3km walking loop on flat even ground, perfect for wheelchair access. Ample car parking available and bathrooms available on site, were large and clean.

Really enjoyed the Cattai Wetlands. Great walk (not strenuous) - seating along the way. Informative both Nature, Culture and directions. Plenty parking, 2 toilets, picnic tables. NB Take Insect Repellant & a picnic.

The boardwalk around the wetlands is great. Well maintained and clear sign posts with lots of interesting info along the way. Well worth a visit

We liked the walks, it was fairly dry in the wetlands, but birds are there somewhere as we could hear them but not see them especially where water had recessed so much!

A good spot to stop off for a short 2 km walk and stretch the legs. There is a dirt road immediately off the turn off from the Pacific Highway. Lots o beautiful water lilies and many birds. Don't forget the aerogard, the mosquitoes are voracious
