Join a tour to see iconic Tasmanian Devils in a wild environment and meet some joeys up close!
Aussie Ark is NSW’s largest independently-owned and operated conservation organisation and is home to seven keystone species once found in the Barrington Tops of NSW. Aussie Ark has a vision of providing a long-term future for Australia’s threatened native wildlife through species and habitat recovery. Aussie Ark also firmly believes in creating healthy ecosystems within its sanctuaries, totalling more than 1000 hectares, and through rewilding.
Aussie Ark's new Barrington Wildlife Sanctuary is 400 enclosed hectares and opened in November 2020.
Aussie Ark Tours
There’s no other experience like this on the Australian mainland! You’ve all heard about the Aussie Ark conservation project in Barrington Tops, now you can join a tour to see the iconic Tasmanian Devils in a wild environment and meet some joeys up close!
Tour groups are met by the Aussie Ark supervisor at the Victoria Pub at Moonan Flat (on the western side of Barrington Tops) at 9.00am on the day of the tour to accompany you to Aussie Ark in your own car for a 10.00am tour start. Visitors from the Gloucester side should arrange a meeting place at the corner of Pheasant Creek Road and Tomalla Road.
This fully escorted tour runs for 2.5 hours at Aussie Ark and features a tour of the Aussie Ark Centre, complete with state of the art displays. The tour will then take in some devil enrichment, a special form of feeding which encourages wild behaviour, interaction with joeys born at Aussie Ark earlier this year and a rare chance to become immersed in the devil’s natural habitat by entering huge free-range enclosures to witness wild devils in truly wild conditions.
Space is limited per departure, adults $150; child 8-15yrs $100.
