I have a small farm at Elands on the Bulga Plateau near Ellenborough Falls.
I'm an active member of the Bulga Plateau RFS (president) encouraging community members to join up and play an active role in protecting our community. As a volunteer organisation we respond to a range of emergencies including structure fires, motor vehicle accidents and storms that occur within rural fire districts. Members of the NSW RFS are trained to very high levels of competence to ensure they know what to do in an emergency.
I'm personally interested in identifying natural conditions that promote native habitat resilience, particularly in and following disaster events such as bushfires and flooding.
I have come to understand following the experiences of severe bushfires the importance of being active in maintaining forest refuges that provide natural climate solutions and wider benefits to society.
